Portraits of historical interpreters photographed between 1993 and 1994 in pioneer villages across eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Most were photographed while performing their everyday roles in living museums, while a few also narrated battle reenactments.

Their expressions, enthusiasm, and storytelling drew me in. What you see here is the result of waiting for the right moment.
