Please note: All the images from this exhibition appear in The Galleries under the title of Precambrians II.
Precambrians II is a photographic collection of rock portraits from road cuts in the Muskoka and Parry Sound districts.
These images convey the impression of painted surfaces. They reveal how the rocks’ varied colours were mixed, folded, cracked, and compressed under extreme heat and pressure.
Surface textures added during construction, along with colours introduced through weathering, give these Precambrian Shield rocks a distinctive visual dimension.
